Speech Title: Development of efficient multicomponent reactions in an aqueous vesicle system for design of new materials
Abstract: Nowadays, the demands for more complex and highly specific materials are increasing rapidly. Currently, functional materials are key components with great potential, as they can be efficiently tailored to operate in a wide variety of architecture and with different functionalities, having a great influence on its final properties and applications. In the view of this, the progress and advances in design are important steps towards novel multifunctional materials. Peptidomimetics represent an important field in material science, chemistry, and pharmacology. Self-structural organizations such as turns, helices, sheets and loops can be accessed by chemical modifications of amino acids or peptides. In peptidomimetics formed via heteroatom replacement within the artificial and native amino acid backbone several new interesting properties may appear. Unfortunately, common synthetic procedure leading to peptidomimetic formation are complicated and cumbersome. The result of our studies on the application of Ugi and Passerini multicompoment reactions in an aqueous vesicle system for the synthesis of new peptidomimetic products which are suitable for material sciences will be presented and discussed. The scope and limitation will be presented and possible application in material sciences will be shown.
